AfroFuture Presents the Homage & the Diaspora Den
Role
Photographer & Videographer
Project
Music Festival & Brand Activation
The Context
AfroFuture is a music festival and cultural activation celebrating Afrofuturism through live performance, community commerce and immersive experience. The event needed visual content that could serve both real-time social engagement and longer-term promotional use.
My Role
Commissioned photographer and videographer brought in to execute against a creative brief covering two distinct environments: the main festival stage and a community marketplace featuring local small business vendors.
The Execution
Working from the brief, I focused on two parallel visual stories running across the same event.
For the festival coverage, the priority was energy and atmosphere, capturing artist performances and audience movement in a way that felt cinematic rather than documentary. The goal was content that translated the feeling of being there, not just the record of what happened.
For the marketplace, the approach shifted to something more intimate. Small business vendors and handcrafted products required a slower, more deliberate eye: finding the authentic moments of connection between makers and customers that communicated community and craft rather than commerce.
Both strands needed to work across social formats while maintaining visual consistency across a single event narrative.
Why It's Here
This project sits in the portfolio as an example of creative execution within a defined brief: the ability to receive a direction, interpret it with intention and deliver content that serves both the immediate need and the longer brand story.
